important cultural centre. As the capital of Catalonia, Barcelona
houses the seat of the Catalan government, known as the Generalitat
de Catalunya. The city is also the capital of the county of the
Barcelonès.Barcelona has a Mediterranean climate, with mild,

Sagrada Familia
This utterly surreal temple was built
by Gaudí in 1882 but the temple hasn't been yet completed.
It is made up of plaster, ceramics, mosaic, iron and many types
of stone. It was originally built to be a neo-Gothic church, but
it has become the most famous building in Barcelona. Gaudí
imbued every element of the Sagrada Família with symbolic
meaning. Turtles form the base of columns and the capitals are palm
trees. The baroque style, the mixture of colors and the diversity
of materials used and many other things make the temple unique in
itself.
Rambles (Les)
It is the name given to a series of streets,
which are joined together one after the other. It starts from Plaça
Catalunya and continues till the sea. The word rambla comes from
the Arabic term, ramla, which means a riverbed. This name is given
to these streets as it actually used to be a riverbed that channelled
the water coming from Collserola hill. Convents and churches were
built on both sides of the Ramblas in the 13th century and then
these streets were named after these religious buildings.
Tibidabo
The name is given to the summit of Collserola
hill. The city's oldest and only amusement park is found here. It
offers more than thirty different rides, which was built in 1899.
La Atalaya, also known as the watchtower, is the most popular and
gives the fantastic views of the city. Many original 19th-century
attractions, like the Museo de Autómatas, which is a Mechanical
Museum is also present here. The modernist-style Church of the Sacred
Heart also stands here.
