Bordeaux
Bordeaux, a port city in the south-west of France, located near the European Atlantic coast, is the capital of the Aquitaine region whose inhabitants are called Bordelais. The city is built on a bend of the river Garonne, and hence is divided into two parts: the right bank to the East and left bank in the West, of which the left bank is the more developed.
Bordeaux is France's main military space, aeronautics research and construction complex. With almost 1,00,000 students, the city's university is well known for its research units in crop science, new materials and nanotechnology. With a population of 9,25,523, Bordeaux is also known as "City of Art and History" and has been described on UNESCO World Heritage List as "an outstanding urban and architectural ensemble".
