London
It is the capital city of England and
the United Kingdom. London is today one of the world's leading business,
financial and cultural centres. It is one of the major global cities
and has greatly influenced politics, education, entertainment, media,
fashion and the arts.
With a population of 7.7 million, London
is the most populous city in the European Union. A wide range of
peoples, cultures and religions, speaking over 300 different languages
are there in the city. London is an international transport hub.
It is served with 5 international airports and an international
rail terminal.
London is a major tourist destination,
with four world heritage sites and numerous iconic landmarks such
as The Tower Bridge, the Tower of London, Buckingham Palace and
the London Eye among its many attractions.
London Eye
It is also known as the Millennium Wheel,
is an observation wheel that was open to public in March, 2000.
As of now, it is the largest observation wheel in the world, although
there are larger ferris wheels. It is the most popular paid for
UK visitor attraction, visited by over 3.5 million people a year.The
London Eye stands 135 metres (443 ft) high on the South Bank of
the River Thames in London between Westminster and Hungerford Bridges
and gives the beautiful view ot the city.
Bukingham Palace
It is the official residence of British
monarchy. It is one of the major tourist attractions of the city.
It is the place where the british people meet at the times of joy,
crisis and sorrows. Opposite to the principal doors of the palace
is the Victoria Memorial, which was creatad by sculptor sir thomas
Brock in 1911.
Tower Of London
Her Majesty's Royal Palace and Fortress
The Tower of London, more commonly known as the Tower of London,
is an historic monument in central London. It is situated on the
north bank of the River Thames. The Tower of London was founded
in 1078. The Tower's primary function was a fortress, a royal palace,
and a prison.
Madame Tussauds
Madame Tussauds is a famous wax museum
in London and have branches in a number of major cities. It was
set up by wax sculptor Marie Tussaud. There are wax figures of many
personalities from different countries which attracts the tourists
towards the museum. Some famous wax figures are that of Adolf Hitlor,
Shakespears, Amitabh Bachhan and many more.
