Airports of London


London has five international airports which serves millions of people every year.


London Heathrow Airport


It is the largest and most busiest airport of london. The airport is owned and operated by BAA. It is is located towards the southern end of the London Borough of Hillingdon, 24 km (15 miles) west of Central London. There are 4 terminals at this airport and the fifth one is under construction. The airport holds nearly 67 millions passengers every year.
There is a multi-faith prayer room and counselling room in each terminal


London Gatwick Airport


It is London's second largest airport and the second busiest airport in the UK after Heathrow. It is located in Crawley, West Sussex (originally Charlwood, Surrey) 2.7 nm (5 km or 3 miles) north of the town centre, 24.7 nm (46 km or 28 miles) south of London and 21.6 nm (40 km or 25 miles) north of Brighton.
With about 200 destinations the airport handled over 34 million passengers. There are two terminals at Gatwick; North and South.

The Gatwick Airport Transit provides free transportation between the North and South Terminals.Gatwick offer a range of facilities for travellers. There is a fairly standard range of shops and restaurants throughout both terminals. There is a multi-faith prayer room and counselling room in each terminal.

 

London Luton Airport

This is an international airport located on the edge of the town of Luton, Bedfordshire, England which is approximately 30 miles north of London.Operating since 16th of july 1938, this airport possesess a single runway of length 7087 feet.The runway is equipped with an Instrument Landing System rated to Category IIIB, which allows the airport to work under the condition of poor visibility.All the airport facilities lie to the north of the runway.A railway station, Luton Airport Parkway, was designed to serve the airport.

Airlines served includes:-Aer Arann, easyJet, Monarch Airlines, Silverjet, Thomas Cook Airlines, Thomsonfly,
Wizz Air and more.

London Stansted Airport

This is a large passenger airport with a single runway and supports number of major European low-cost airlines. It is about 2 miles outside Bishop's Stortford and 6 miles outside Harlow.Stansted has one terminal. There are three boarding piers, one connected to the main terminal by a pedestrian bridge and the other two by a people mover system.

London City Airport

This is a single-runway airport, intended for use by airlines with STOL (Short Take Off and Landing), and has been sesigned to serve the financial districts of London.This is the smallest airport among all five international airports of London.
