Madrid Barajas International Airport
The airport is located northeast of Madrid's
city center. It is the most important international as well as domestic
airport of Spain, and southern Europe. This was opened in 1928 and
now has become one of the most important aviation centers of Europe.
It serves more than 45 million passengers in an year and is the
5th most busiest airport of Europe. The operator of this airport
is Aena.
The airport has 4 terminals, one of which
has the world's largest single terminal area. It has an area of
more than one million square meters. It serves as the gateway to
the Iberian peninsula from the rest of Europe. Barajas, in total,
have four runways; two on a north-south axis and the other two on
a northwest-southeast axis. A total of 120 operations are allowed
per hour.
